BAJOFONDO is a collective of artists and musicians who teamed up to create an array of music based on the fusion of diverse electronic genres ( house, trance, trip hop, dub, drum n’bass, etc) with the traditional sounds of tango. Is the electronic tango project of GUSTAVO SANTAOLALLA (twice Hollywood Oscar Academy awards winner (2006/ 2007) for his original soundtracks of “Brokeback Mountain" and “Babel”).

For Argentina and Uruguay (the countries united-and separated-by the Rio de la Plata) these are times of electricity and tango.Lots of tango.Not tourist tango…Real Tango, the one that’s part of rioplatense blood system,the one that makes us melancholic, nostalgic or plain sad.The tango that makes us want to dance, laugh and make love.the treasure box for memories too hurtful to remember, too sweet to forget.

Since they debut in Buenos Aires in December 2003 BFTC quickly caused a stir in Argentina’s underground and the world at large. The first album “Bajofondo Tangoclub” is certified triple platinum in Argentina and have sold more than 600.000 all over the world.It received the prestigious argentinian “Gardel Award” (2004) and also “Latin Grammy” (2004) as best pop instrumental album.

Since 2004 BAJOFONDO TANGOCLUB toured several times in Europe, USA and all over Latin America with a great success of public and critics.

Nowadays BFTC are finishing their second new release in which has recorded Elvis Costello, Nelly Furtado , Ryota Komatsu ( famous Japanese bandoneon player), Gustavo Cerati (one of the most important rock artist from Argentina) among others.The new album, Mar dulce (Sweet Sea) will be available all over the world on next September 2007 and will have a special treatment and considered a priority for Universal Music record company.
